♥ JMS HEARTS ♥ ISSUE 7

Welcome back to another edition of JMS Hearts! I feel like it’s been forever since I checked out things in store and online – I think everyone becomes a bit of a hermit crab after the Christmas holidays. After all that shopping (and spending!) I feel like I just don’t want to buy anything ever again. That feeling, of course, passes (ha!) and as the adorable pink and red hearts appear on the scene for Valentine’s Day I became infatuated with all the new pretty offerings. Check out my favourites below for this heart-filled holiday!

If you are new here –  JMS HEARTS is a feature that I have created which showcases all my favourite entertaining finds for the season….aka everything that I heart ♥!

NEW YEAR’S EVE TABLESCAPE – BLACK AND SILVER

I have never been a huge New Year’s Eve person which I definitely think most people can relate to. Not to be confused with the New Year in general which I absolutely LOVE! Planning out a fresh year, looking back at goals and creating new ones – that’s my jam… but that is a post for another day. New Year’s Eve on the other hand just seems to always be a huge build up and never really delivers in my opinion. The holidays are busy enough therefore by the end of December I am ready to stay in with friends and do something low key.

While I love getting in sweats and relaxing on the couch with m bffs, I do think that staying in with friends can sometimes use a little pizzazz. This is a quick tablescape that I whipped up which primarily consists of Christmas ornaments! No need to venture out for New Year’s themed decor – just use what you have to add some sparkle to the table this year!

ENTERTAINING BUCKET LIST: CHRISTMAS EDITION

This Entertaining Bucketlist is one of my favourites to write because I absolutely love Christmas! I am definitely the person to start celebrating November 1st and truly enjoy every aspect of the holiday. From the twinkling lights to the upbeat Christmas songs – how can you NOT be in a good mood! Christmas is my favourite holiday hands down and I cannot wait to start celebrating and decorating. I am a little behind in my decorating because we have been in the middle of a move but I cannot wait to get started on the house and tree soon!

If you are new here, I created the seasonal Entertaining Bucket List because every season throughout the year brings on new adventures and fun activities to be tackled. I love me a good bucket list and I have seen so many pop up on Pinterest lately. They are pretty much all encompassing which is great but I wanted to create a special one for entertaining specifically. Most of the items I want to do each month involve friends, family and food so it’s a perfect fit! You can do the below on your own but having people over to enjoy the activities makes it that more special.

Whether you add these items to your main bucket list for Christmas or keep them separate – they are sure to be a lot of fun for all!

HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS: KIDS EDITION

Do you have some special kiddos in your life that you want to spoil with these Halloween Treat Bags? Even though Halloween is on Wednesday (how did that happen?!), these treats can be assembled in a few minutes and just require one quick trip to the dollar store! Although candy and chocolate are amazing (obviously) – I like to jazz up the treats even more!

I’ve created a quick and easy craft that will elevate your Halloween game to the next level! Surprise your kids (or coworkers – depending on what you put in them!) with some extra fun Halloween goodies. This is also a great activity to do with your kiddos – they can help put together these treats for their friends and family members.

HALLOWEEN KIDS HAUNTED HOUSE FUN + FREE PRINTABLE

Halloween definitely tops my list of holidays that I love and I enjoy celebrating it every year. As a kid, my parents would go all out on the decorations especially my dad whos personal mission was to make the outside of our house as fun/scary as possible. This usually involved us stuffing newspapers into all sorts of items that would turn into large spiders, scary ghosts or crushed legs coming out of the garage (my fav!). Sometimes our costumes were purchased and other times they involved some genius handcrafting but we always had a blast trick or treating in our neighbourhoods. As I grew older I never forgot the fun feeling you get as kids around the holiday. Halloween is full of entertainment and candy as well as scary mystery and magical creatures. It is always surprising and every year can bring its own set of fun. One of my favourite parts of Halloween was when someone created an epic haunted house (not too scary) and we got to go through it as kids. That was always so fun!

For this Halloween, I wanted to create a fun mini version of a Halloween haunted house you can do with the kiddos at home! Nothing too scary but a lot of fun and interactive. I’m hoping this has them laughing and enjoying the monster parts I have come up with!
