DROOL WORTHY VALENTINE’S DAY DESSERTS

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow I wanted to round up some delicious desserts I have been starting at for the past hour. They all look fairly easy to attempt and incredibly mouthwatering as well! Hopefully you get some inspiration for this and make some for your loved ones. I think I should also take my own advice and try a recipe or two…

1. Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes

These Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes look divine. I can just hear the flaky crunch in my head!

POLISH CHRUST PASTRY

If you have never heard of Chrust or Chrusciki or Angel Wings then you are in for a treat! This is a Polish dessert that is usually only served a few times (or once!) a year during the holiday season. In our house, we would usually have it around Easter time or on Fat Thursday as it marked a special occasion during that year. I remember getting excited about this dessert every year and eating them until I was super full – they did not last long in our house!

This week is Fat Thursday which is a Polish tradition different from Fat Tuesday celebrated in North America. On Fat Thursday, people eat various sweets, cakes and pastries that they would normally not eat during Lent. This includes Chrust, Pączki (Polish donuts) and other amazingly mouthwatering items.

Chrust is a light flaky pastry cooked in oil, therefore, it is not the healthiest treat out there but definitely super delicious! To top off its goodness you sprinkle powdered sugar on top giving it a sweetness in flavour. Yum Yum Yum! Oh and did I mention there is vodka involved – yes keep reading!

VALENTINE’S DAY CHOCOLATE DIPPED PRETZEL STICKS

I can’t believe we are already in February this year! It’s funny seeing all the memes online about January being the longest month ever when I always feel like it flies by. I’m not sure if this is because I am in the event’s industry and people tend to panic when the new year rolls around and realize they need to BOOK.EVERYTHING.EVERWHERE! For myself, the month can be super busy and tends to rush by! I will admit it is not my favourite month since Christmas is over and no new holidays are around to look forward to – I may be a holiday junkie and I don’t shy away from it!

February brings us an aura of pink and red that we can look forward to and just an overall love feeling for Valentine’s Day. Although we do not go over the top for Valentine’s Day, I still love seeing the heart decorations around and just the overall aspect of a fun holiday in the month. Also knowing Valentine’s Day is coming brings along thoughts of Spring and Easter which is also exciting.

Last year I put together a fun Valentine’s Day themed tablescape with the most adorable paper plates and cups (doesn’t always have to be fancy china!) but this year I wanted to make a fun treat you can give to your friends and family this season!

NUTELLA CAKE POPS

Have you heard of the saying “You can’t please everyone, you are not Nutella!” – well today folks, the day has come. We officially have Nutella cake pops live on the site and there should only be happiness surrounding this day!

I am exaggerating (if ever so slightly) but my love for Nutella does run strong – I usually only allow myself to have it in the house once or twice a year otherwise I will eat the whole jar and nobody needs that! As tomorrow is the ever so exciting New Year’s Eve and if you are still looking for a last minute dessert this recipe below is quite easy to put together. And you can match it to any colour theme you have going on!
