NEW YEAR’S EVE TABLESCAPE – BLACK AND SILVER

I have never been a huge New Year’s Eve person which I definitely think most people can relate to. Not to be confused with the New Year in general which I absolutely LOVE! Planning out a fresh year, looking back at goals and creating new ones – that’s my jam… but that is a post for another day. New Year’s Eve on the other hand just seems to always be a huge build up and never really delivers in my opinion. The holidays are busy enough therefore by the end of December I am ready to stay in with friends and do something low key.

While I love getting in sweats and relaxing on the couch with m bffs, I do think that staying in with friends can sometimes use a little pizzazz. This is a quick tablescape that I whipped up which primarily consists of Christmas ornaments! No need to venture out for New Year’s themed decor – just use what you have to add some sparkle to the table this year!

DECOR INSPIRATION

I knew I wanted to use black and silver as my main colours because when I think of New Year’s Eve it just screams black, silver and gold for some reason but feel free to go with any colour that you have ornaments for. The beauty of this tablescape is that is can be adjusted to whatever you already own. Once I chose my colours I literally walked around the house looking for items that fit those colours – I found 2 disco balls, candle holders, sparkly cloth and black charger plates to add to the various ornaments. All these items paired nicely together and made up the main decor items on this tablescape.

CENTERPIECE

For the middle I knew I wanted something versatile that would work for decor and food storage because there is never enough room on that table! These cakepops worked perfectly (recipe to come!) and the low bowl was a great way to not over power the table and still allow your guests to see each other. The worst is when you have large centerpieces that don’t allow your guests to mingle together – I have seen people spend hundreds of dollars on large wedding centerpieces to only see them in the corner an hour later because the guests at the table didn’t want to deal with them. Keeping a low profile is good sometimes! Ha!

Overall this table came together quite easily with various items found around the house. I enjoy challenging myself to use the items I have and not go out and buy additional items that I do not need.

I hope this gives you some tips on how to transition your Christmas decor to New Years this season! The simplest ideas can add that extra touch when celebrating with friends and family
