NEW YEAR’S EVE TABLESCAPE – BLACK AND SILVER

I have never been a huge New Year’s Eve person which I definitely think most people can relate to. Not to be confused with the New Year in general which I absolutely LOVE! Planning out a fresh year, looking back at goals and creating new ones – that’s my jam… but that is a post for another day. New Year’s Eve on the other hand just seems to always be a huge build up and never really delivers in my opinion. The holidays are busy enough therefore by the end of December I am ready to stay in with friends and do something low key.

While I love getting in sweats and relaxing on the couch with m bffs, I do think that staying in with friends can sometimes use a little pizzazz. This is a quick tablescape that I whipped up which primarily consists of Christmas ornaments! No need to venture out for New Year’s themed decor – just use what you have to add some sparkle to the table this year!

LEMON AND LIME CENTERPIECE

Whenever I throw a dinner party I always try to look around the house to see if there are items I can use to incorporate into the decor. You’d be surprised how many things you have around the house that look great if you just style them a little differently. Specifically speaking – have you looked at your fruit bowl lately? You know that lovely pineapple that is about to go bad (am I the only one that has SO much trouble cutting these damm things up before their time expires?) or that delicious watermelon =  those are your future flower vases! Fruits can be used in so many different fun ways and today I will show you just that!

I enjoy decorating with fruit as well as using it in my party menus – hello fruit water tower! Sidenote – is there anything better than fruit flavoured water? (I mean not counting sangria of course). I could do a whole post of my favourite flavoured water combinations for entertaining but I’ll save that for another day. When it comes to decorating with fruits I love to use citrus kinds as the bright colours provide an amazing pop of life on a sometimes plain looking table. I dream that one day I will own that villa in Tuscany which will be surrounded by beautiful lemon trees which I can venture to anytime I need fresh juicy lemons. As of right now – I get my butt down to the local farmers market and indulge in some freshly picked fruits.

SPRING THEMED EASTER TABLESCAPE

I’m pretty sure everyone is thinking the same thing….how in the world is Easter next weekend already!? Although Easter is technically earlier this year – I do feel like March just started! As much as I love working in events it really speeds up the year and makes time fly way too fast! In my head I am already working on August and September stuff. Just crazy!

Anyways, back to the present! Spring time is here and Easter is around the corner! These items have inspired me to put together this Spring Themed Easter Tablescape. I hope it gives you some ideas for your own setup next week or for another spring day!

5 IDEAS FOR UNIQUE PLACE CARDS/FAVOURS

When planning a tablescape there are many items to think about including place cards/name cards around the table. Instead of the typical paper place cards that normally show up at table settings, I have rounded up a few different ideas for your next gathering. Bonus points – they all double as cute favours for your guests to take home with them! Just personalize them slightly and they are ready to go for your next party!

1. Mini Candle

My first suggestion is a mini sized candle that you can theme to your party! Having a summer luau theme – pineapple breeze scent is the way to go! Bundled up around a cozy fire at Christmas time – twisted peppermint is my jam. I think you get the point – there are SO many different flavours that you can customize them for your specific gathering. Also you do not necessarily have to have the same scents for each guest – there are so many fun options out there that work well together. I’m assuming you are not pairing together tobacco smell with lavender lilacs and hot chocolate rum cake scent ha! Stick to one grouping and you will do great! Once you have your selected candles, the final step is to customize them with a first initial (or first and last depending on the group) of the people attending the party. I got these gold monogram letters as a gift for Christmas but they originally came from Michaels and can also be purchased at other craft stores.
