CRAB SALAD

Easter is right around the corner and if you are still looking for food ideas I have the perfect fresh salad for you to serve at the dinner table! Holidays can be a stressful time especially when you are cooking for a whole group. I like to make my meal plan with a few dishes that be be prepared ahead of time and this is definitely one of them.

This time of year is also when I start to crave more lighter refreshing items after a long winter of warm roasted food. The fresh dill in this meal really brings out the flavour and pairs well with the crunch of the celery. So easy to put together I can guarantee this will be the least of your worries on Easter Weekend!

ST. PATRICK’S DAY POTS OF GOLD

It’s time for another green filled holiday and I have a treat for you! Although St.Patrick’s Day is usually associated with green beer and drinking I prefer to go the opposite route and search for leprechauns hiding their pots of gold (before you ask, no I haven’t started drinking the green beer just yet!). I am referring to wonderful pots of gold filled with chocolate – I mean you cannot go wrong with chocolate right?!

POLISH CHRUST PASTRY

If you have never heard of Chrust or Chrusciki or Angel Wings then you are in for a treat! This is a Polish dessert that is usually only served a few times (or once!) a year during the holiday season. In our house, we would usually have it around Easter time or on Fat Thursday as it marked a special occasion during that year. I remember getting excited about this dessert every year and eating them until I was super full – they did not last long in our house!

This week is Fat Thursday which is a Polish tradition different from Fat Tuesday celebrated in North America. On Fat Thursday, people eat various sweets, cakes and pastries that they would normally not eat during Lent. This includes Chrust, Pączki (Polish donuts) and other amazingly mouthwatering items.

Chrust is a light flaky pastry cooked in oil, therefore, it is not the healthiest treat out there but definitely super delicious! To top off its goodness you sprinkle powdered sugar on top giving it a sweetness in flavour. Yum Yum Yum! Oh and did I mention there is vodka involved – yes keep reading!

VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT TAGS – FREE PRINTABLE

Loveeeeeeeee is in the air this week because it’s Valentine’s Day! If you haven’t noticed the heart shaped cookies at Starbucks or the pink candies filling the aisles of every store you may be living under a rock – or hiding under there. We don’t judge – sometimes it’s nice to get away from it all!

Seeing it is Valentine’s Day, I posted a delicious pretzel treat last week that can be made in under 30 minutes and is the perfect favour to give out to friends and family. To go with these treats I created a Valentine’s Day label that is available as a free printable! See below for the free printable!
