CRAB SALAD

Easter is right around the corner and if you are still looking for food ideas I have the perfect fresh salad for you to serve at the dinner table! Holidays can be a stressful time especially when you are cooking for a whole group. I like to make my meal plan with a few dishes that be be prepared ahead of time and this is definitely one of them.

This time of year is also when I start to crave more lighter refreshing items after a long winter of warm roasted food. The fresh dill in this meal really brings out the flavour and pairs well with the crunch of the celery. So easy to put together I can guarantee this will be the least of your worries on Easter Weekend!

As I mentioned above – this salad can definitely be prepared ahead of time to help save stress when preparing the meal. It is also extremely versatile and can be used in different ways.

A few tips on preparing it:

  • The salad can be fully prepared a few hours ahead (3-4) before eating and it will still taste great
  • If you want to prepare it further in advance – leave out the lemon juice, mayonnaise and salt/pepper. You can add the the other ingredients in the bowl and then finish off with these items near the end
  • If you want to prepare this a day before I suggest putting each item in a separate container and adding together the day of

A few different ways this salad can be enjoyed:

  • As a main salad for the table
  • Split up into individual salads as shown – you can also place lettuce at the bottom of the dish
  • As a dip – this salad is perfect for topping crackers with
  • Served in a croissant – perfect for brunch
  • Served on top of a banquette

CRAB SALAD

A delicious spring salad perfect for entertaining!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Imitation Crab – King Crab (227 grams each package)
  • 1/2 cup Dill (loosely packed) (chopped in fine pieces)
  • 4 tbls Mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 cups Celery (chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/2 tbls Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tbls Salt
  • 1/2 tbls Pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop the crab into small pieces and add to a bowl.

  2. Chop the dill until fine and add to the crab.

  3. Add remaining ingredients and mix together. 

  4. Add additional salt and pepper to taste. 

  5. Enjoy!
