HIBISCUS LAVENDER LEMON TEA

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and if you still don’t have a gift idea then I have you covered! Mom’s do so much for us on the daily and they truly deserve to relax and enjoy the day….and MANY days throughout the year! One of my favourite ways to relax is to have a nice warm cup of tea and thankfully my husband is a tea brewing connoisseur. Whenever I dive into a hot steaming cup of tea my stress melts away and all I can think of is how relaxed I am in the moment. Add on a slice of chocolate cake and heaven!

I’ve created a fruity tea blend that is perfect for the summer days ahead. This diy gift can be easily put together and modified to individual tastes. That’s the fun of tea – you can truly customize to your liking. I love going to grocery stores that have loose leaf tea filled shelves and trying new flavours and tastes. This way you can try a small amount for less that $1.00 and see if that becomes your new favourite one!

To get started you need to gather these ingredients below:

I purchased the earl grey tea leaves, hibiscus tea leaves and rosehips at my local grocery store that sells loose leaf tea. The lavender came from a local lavender farm in the area and the dried lemon peel I made myself at home.

To make dried lemon you require:

  • 2 Lemons
  • Lemon Zester
  • Oven

1. .Take your lemon zester and peel both lemons until all the yellow peel has come off.

2. Spread out on a pan filled with parchment paper and place into oven.

3. Put oven on 200F for 20-25 mins and let cool after.

4. The lemon peel will curl up and you can keep the pieces that size or rub slightly between your fingers to break down.

Once you have all the ingredients, place them together in a bowl and mix gently until well combined. For gift giving – place tea in a glass jar or tin can with a label or ribbon around it. The package is just as important as the tea!

I hope you enjoyed this easy tea diy and try it out one day. This tea is delicious warm but can also be served with ice on hot summer days for a refreshing kick!
