DIY COCKTAIL DRINK STIR STICKS

Throwing a party is always fun but adding in your own special diy touches really makes the difference for me. Today’s post has a fun diy that can be done three different ways and helps solve a problem that occurs quite often at parties!

One recurring issue I do see happening during parties often is guests forgetting what glass is theirs and moving on to another one. Now I don’t want to seem like a Grinch when it comes to cups (you want three…go ahead!) but I am trying to avoid the a) extra cleanup when it comes to things leftover – how does 8 guests equal 23 glasses??) and b) the waste. There are numerous times where I have dumped glasses still filled to the brim of alcohol and other liquid delights. I have definitely also been at events where I have placed my cup down for a moment on a busy table and lost track of it as well.

There is an easy fix for this! Individual cocktail drink stir sticks – see below for all the fun customizable details. Your guests can choose their favourite colours and never forget what drink is theirs in the future!

I created three different kinds of stir sticks that are super easy to put together and can be customized into different colours for all your guests. Create a bunch before your next party and add them to drinks so everyone has their own individualized “name cards” only cuter!

DIY # 1 – SHAKE YOUR POM POMS

Need:
– mini pom poms of various colours
– wooden stir stick (I used shish kabob sticks that I cut down)
– glue gun + glue

Steps:
1. Measure your wooden sticks in the glasses you will be using for the party and cut accordingly to the size. I like to have about 2-3 inches sticking out past the rim.

2. Place the wooden stick on the table and position your pom poms around – alternating in colours (or you can keep them solid as well!). This will give you an idea of space and sizing.

3. Using a glue gun – glue on the top pom pom and then add on the side ones alternating from left side to right side leaving a little space in between.

4. Allow for the glue to harden for 10 minutes before using stir stick.

DIY # 2 – LET YOUR FREAK FLAG FLY

Need:
– washi/glitter/metallic tape
– wooden stir stick (I used shish kabob sticks that I cut down)
– scisssors

Steps:
1. Measure your wooden sticks in the glasses you will be using for the party and cut accordingly to the size. I like to have about 2-3 inches sticking out past the rim.

2. Select your tape colours and starting at the top wrap the tape around the stir stick onto each other leaving 2 inches out.

3. Once all colours have been added – cut the ends into two mini flags or whatever shape you like!

JMS TIP – You can write down your guests names on the flags ahead of time to customize each stir stick.

DIY # 3 – JUST BEAD IT…..BEAD IT

Need:
– beads of various colours (large enough to fit on stick)
– wooden stir stick (I used shish kabob sticks that I cut down)
– glue gun + glue

Steps:
1. Measure your wooden sticks in the glasses you will be using for the party and cut accordingly to the size. I like to have about 2-3 inches sticking out past the rim.

2. Pick out your bead selections – depending on the size I suggest around 4 large ones.

3. Add your top bead on securing with some glue – I add a very thin layer of glue on the sides of the stick and slide the bead on it to stay.

4. Add on the middle beads and repeat the process above with your last bead. Only the first and last one requires glue.

5. Allow for the glue to harden for 10 minutes before using stir stick.
