As I’ve mentioned before, party decor is one of my favourite things about hosting (aside from the food of course!) and balloons seem to be the universal sign of “party“! In my opinion the more…the better!! These days there are SO many different fun options to choose from that they can compliment any theme you go with. Have you seen those amazing balloon arches people make? – that is definitely a future goal post of mine on here!
Some of my favourite balloons lately have been ones filled with confetti. They are so fun and playful and can be customized to any colour you are working with! Thankfully they can be created in a few easy steps I’ve listed below!
This DIY requires:
- clear balloons
- confetti or tissue paper confetti
- a funnel (not pictured)
- ribbon
STEPS:
1) Gather your supplies together – make sure your confetti is size appropriate as pictured. To make your own tissue confetti, simply use a craft circle punch on tissue paper.
2) Attach the balloon to a funnel and add the confetti in. For tissue paper confetti it is suggested you touch every piece to give it some additional static to work with once inside the balloon.
JMS TIP: Although it may be tempting to add in a lot of real confetti, the weight of the plastic actually weighs the balloon down. Not only will it fall to the bottom of the balloon, it will actually make the balloon sink. If using real plastic confetti I would suggest using it sparsely.
3) Blow up the balloons with helium and shake them up. As I didn’t have a helium tank at home I went to the local dollar store to have mine blown up. They also suggested adding in a “treatment” before you place your confetti in to help make it stick even more. Many places will also help you put the confetti inside therefore saving you the step (always ask your store if they offer this service).
4) Tie some ribbon to the balloons and you are done!
